About Planet Furniture
Rubber Wood Furniture, Made in Thailand Since 2000
Planet Furniture (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is a family-owned manufacturer of solid rubberwood and acacia furniture, working from our own mill and factory in Chonburi. We build for importers, retail chains and project buyers who need furniture that survives daily use and arrives on the date we quoted. More than eighteen hundred pieces are in the live catalogue today, across living, dining, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, and everything ships from Laem Chabang.

Our story
A French Designer Met a Thai Maker
Planet Furniture began in 2000, when a French designer working in Thailand met a local expert in sourcing and production. One brought European design training and an eye for proportion; the other knew the timber, the workshops, and how to actually get things built. They shared one conviction — that Thailand’s rubberwood deserved better design than it was getting. Within twelve months the first containers had left the port, and the company has stayed family-owned ever since.

The material
Wood We Can Stand Behind
Rubber wood comes from the para rubber tree, grown across southern Thailand for its latex. After roughly twenty-five years the tree stops producing, and is felled and replanted. Timber that was once burnt as waste is now one of Asia’s most sustainable hardwoods — pale, dense, and stable enough for a dining table or a bed frame. We buy stock from FSC-certified suppliers, kiln-dry it ourselves, and keep it racked inside our own mill, so a production run never sits waiting on a supplier.

How it is built
Built for Real Homes
Furniture earns its place by surviving daily life, not by photographing well. Every piece is finished in water-based, low-VOC coatings that are safe around children and pets, applied in our own booth rather than sent out. Every order runs through a written ISO 9001 procedure instead of a final spot check: components are machined to tolerance before anything is joined, and every surface is checked by hand before it reaches the finishing line.
- Water-based finishes — low-VOC, safe for children’s rooms
- ISO 9001 procedure — written checks at each stage, not one at the end
- 95% on-time in full — measured against the date we quote you

How we work
OEM and ODM, Under One Roof
Bring us your drawings and we build to them, under your brand and to your specification. Or start from our existing catalogue and we adjust the dimensions, the finish, the hardware and the packaging until the piece suits your market. Minimums begin at five to twenty pieces per SKU, so a design can be trialled before it is committed to — and the same line handles a standing programme of fifteen or more containers a month once it sells.
- OEM — your design, your brand, produced to your specification
- ODM — our designs, adapted to your sizes, finish and market
- Private label — your packaging and labelling, retail-ready on arrival

Who we supply
Importers, Retailers and Project Buyers
Containers leave Laem Chabang for Australia, Europe, the United States and South Africa. Some customers start with a single trial order of a few pieces; others run standing programmes across several collections at once. Both go down the same line, through the same quality procedure, and are loaded at the same factory in Chonburi — there is no separate small-order workshop working to a different standard, because we only have one standard.

Inside our factory
From Sawn Timber to Loaded Container
Six stages, all under one roof in Chonburi.
Step 01Timber & drying
Rubberwood and acacia from FSC-certified suppliers, kiln-dried and racked on site so a run never waits on delivery.
Step 02Precision machining
Components are cut and profiled to tolerance before anything is joined, so assembly squares up first time.
Step 03Assembly by hand
Frames are squared, glued and clamped by the same crews every day — the people who spot a fault fastest.
Step 04Sanding & QC
Every surface is checked by hand before it reaches the finishing line, because a flaw is far cheaper to fix here.
Step 05Water-based finish
Low-VOC coatings applied in our own booth, safe for children and pets and consistent batch to batch.
Step 06Pack & load
Export packing and container loading on site, shipping through Laem Chabang, Thailand’s main deep-sea port.

Common questions
Buying Rubber Wood Furniture from Thailand
What is rubber wood, and is it good for furniture?
Rubber wood is the timber of the para rubber tree, Hevea brasiliensis, grown across southern Thailand for latex rather than for lumber. After roughly twenty-five years the tree stops producing and has to be felled and replanted, which means the timber is a by-product of an existing agricultural cycle rather than a reason to clear forest. For a long time it was simply burnt.
As furniture material it is a pale, dense hardwood with a fine, even grain. It takes stain and paint uniformly, holds a screw well, and once kiln-dried it stays stable in a heated or air-conditioned room. That combination is why the same timber works for a dining table, a bed frame and a child’s wardrobe.
What is your minimum order quantity?
Five to twenty pieces per SKU, depending on the item and how complex it is to set up. That is deliberately low: a buyer should be able to put a design in front of their own customers before committing to a full container of it. We would rather sell twenty pieces that sell through than two hundred that sit in a warehouse.
At the other end of the scale the same line ships fifteen or more containers a month, so a design that performs can scale without moving to a different supplier — or a different quality standard.
Do you produce OEM and ODM furniture?
Both, in the same factory. For OEM you send drawings, a sample or a specification and we build exactly to it, under your brand. We will tell you honestly if a detail will not hold up in solid timber, and suggest the change rather than build a piece that comes back.
For ODM you start from our existing catalogue and we adapt it — dimensions for your market’s rooms, finish to match your range, hardware, and packaging. Private-label packing and labelling are handled here too, so goods arrive retail-ready rather than needing rework at your end.
Are the finishes safe for children and pets?
Yes. We finish in water-based, low-VOC coatings applied in our own finishing booth, and this is the standard across every collection — including anything destined for a child’s room. It is not an upgrade you have to specify and pay for.
Keeping finishing in-house rather than subcontracting it is what makes that promise checkable. We can tell you what went onto a batch because we applied it.
Which countries do you export to?
Our regular markets are Australia, Europe, the United States and South Africa, and we have been shipping to them for twenty-five years. Containers are loaded at our own factory in Chonburi and go out through Laem Chabang, Thailand’s main deep-sea port, about an hour and a half from Bangkok.
Because loading happens on site rather than at a third-party depot, what is written on the packing list is what was actually put in the container.
How do you control quality across a large order?
Every order runs through a written ISO 9001 procedure with checks at each stage, rather than one inspection at the end. Components are machined to tolerance before assembly, so frames square up the first time. Every surface is checked by hand before it reaches the finishing line, because a flaw caught there costs minutes and a flaw caught in a container costs a shipment.
Delivery performance is tracked as on-time in full against the date we quoted — currently 95%, and we would rather publish the real figure than a rounder one.
What wood species do you work with besides rubber wood?
Acacia is our second timber, used where a warmer tone and a more pronounced grain suit the design — it reads richer than rubberwood and takes a darker finish well. Both species come from FSC-certified suppliers and both are milled, kiln-dried and stocked in the same factory.
That matters practically: a collection can mix the two without a second supply chain, second lead time or second set of certificates for your customs broker.
Can I visit the factory before placing an order?
Yes, and we would encourage it. The factory is in Nong Yai, Chonburi, roughly an hour and a half from Bangkok, and everything happens there — the mill, machining, assembly, the finishing booth and container loading. There is no second site you would not be shown.
Buyers who cannot travel are welcome to ask for photographs or video of their own order at any stage of production, and we would rather send them than be asked why we did not.
How many designs can I choose from?
There are more than eighteen hundred pieces in the live catalogue right now, grouped into six ranges — living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and accessories — plus a hand-finished handicraft range.
On top of that sit more than twenty named collections such as Colonial, Coventry, Oslo, Manhattan, Zen, Stockholm and Liverpool. Each collection holds a consistent language of proportion, edge detail and finish, so you can furnish a whole room from one collection and have it look designed rather than assembled.
